Simple: Facebook iPhone app’s Sync function uploads and stores your entire address book, when all I want is to download the profile pictures.  One possible (Mac) alternative: AddressBookSync copies profile pictures and birthdays to OS X Address Book then sync with iTunes. Disclaimer: I haven’t tried it in a while.
